Annual wellness checks for your pets

How do we keep our pets happy and healthy from puppy to old age?

Dogs and cats age much faster than humans and have a much shorter life span. By 2 years of age they are classed as adults, and by 7 years they are seniors so it is important to have regular check ups with the Vet.
Early detection and management of problems such as osteo-arthritis, heart disease and kidney disease are the key to improving your pets quality of life, and ensuring they remain happy and pain free. Many conditions when diagnosed early can be effectively managed so don’t delay in booking in for your pet’s Annual wellness health check today.

Fortunately for our pets most of the common deadly diseases are easily prevented by vaccinating them. Puppies and Kittens need at least 2 vaccinations to provide initial immunity, and then a booster every year to keep them safe for life. As part of our dedicated service to you and your fur baby we will contact you when your pet is due for boosters. REMEMBER PARVO VIRUS KILLS DOGS!
If you have any questions about vaccinations please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic.

A properly balanced diet which provides the correct amounts of Proteins, Carbohydrates, Fats/Oils, Fibre, Vitamins and Minerals can have your pet radiating good health.
Although many people love their pets so much they want to cook for them, it is very difficult to ensure a correct balance of nutrients with a solely home-cooked diet and the pet can be left with health problems as a result. The simplest way to provide correct nutrition is to make a high quality biscuit the foundation of the diet, and add raw bones of appropriate size as a treat to help with dental health.

Fleas and worms can have a big impact on the general health of your pet so a regular year round treatment plan is important to keep these nasties from making your pet very sick.
In sunny Geraldton our weather conditions are perfect to keep the flea population thriving even in winter so don’t forget to apply the flea treatment every month, or for those of us well meaning, but not so organised people, the new Bravecto chew will give your dog 3 months of protection from fleas and ticks.
Adult cats and dogs should be wormed every 3 months to keep worms to a minimum. Unlike flea treatments, products to control worms have no residual effect.

We teach our children to brush their teeth twice a day from the moment the first tooth erupts. It is a part of the daily routine as are the regular trips to the dentist to make sure their teeth stay strong and healthy.
Our pets need the same care. Many designer breeds of dogs no longer have normal shaped mouths and their teeth are particularly prone to problems so it is important to brush daily, and have regular (at least yearly) dental checks. Don’t forget we offer FREE nurse dental checks!
