Exemptions for microchipping

There has been some confusion following the enforcement of the new pet microchip laws, which came into effect 1st November 2015.
Some people have contacted the clinic asking for an exemption letter to give to the Council so they do not have to have their pet microchipped.
There are very few valid reasons for a Vet to give an exemption letter. My pet is old; never leaves the yard; doesn’t like coming to the Vet; are not valid reasons.
Only once your pet has been examined by a Vet, and due to a medical condition can he/she be deemed unfit to microchip.
